BANNU – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that he wanted to see ‘new Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’ as claimed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government but was disappointed upon his one-day visit.
Addressing a public rally here, he announced a development package worth Rs 200 million for different areas of the Pakhtunkhwa including Bannu. He also announced construction of an international airport in Bannu and a university in Lakki Marwat.
On the occasion, Governor Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra, PM’s Special Assistant Asif Kirmani, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Fazlur Rehman, former governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi and former chief ministers Pir Sabir Shah and Muhammad Akram Durrani accompanied the prime minister during his visit.
Nawaz reiterated that he would resign if corruption worth a penny was proven against him. He vowed to ensure better supply of gas and electricity in the area. He also said that once again that the federal government would be able to curb energy crisis and end power outages until 2018.
Addressing the gathering, Fazl said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N would create a ‘new Bannu’ beating PTI’s hollow claims behind. He said that the ruling party at centre created several roads and highways during its multiple tenures in the government. He said that people of Pakhtunkhwa were facing dreamy sketches drawn by PTI in their minds during general elections 2013.
The prime minister laid foundation stone of a gas project that will ensure supply to five union councils. The project will complete in a year costing around Rs 259 million.
