DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Girls once again outshined boys as Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) here on Monday announced the first 20 position holders of matriculation examination 2016. The first three positions were clinched by private school students wherein Karishma Batool Durrani of Shan Model High School, Paharpur, and Azqa Maheen of IIUI School, Dera Ismail Khan, stood first by obtaining 1029 marks out of 1050. Hafiz Wajahatullah Anwar of Iqra Education System School and College remained second with 1026 marks while the third position was secured by Samina Kanwal of Shan Model High School, Paharpur with 1010 marks.
Similarly, Momina Khaliq of Government Girls High School No.1, Tank, topped the arts group by obtaining 872 marks. Bisma Kanwal of Government Girls High School No.2, Dera Ismail Khan, secured second position by getting 856 marks, and Naila Ali of Government Girls High School No.1, Tank, clinched the third position with 839 marks.
A total of 19,716 candidates appeared in the 2016 matriculation examinations held under BISE, Dera Ismail Khan, among whom 15,175 candidates passed. The pass rate for this year was 76.97 per cent.
Meanwhile, University Wensam College organised a ceremony to distribute cash and other prizes among the top twenty position holders of BISE Dera Ismail Khan. Commissioner, Dr Akhtar Nazir Wirraich, was the chief guest on the occasion. The first position holder was awarded Rs.50,000, the second Rs.45,000, third Rs.40,000 and the remaining position holders were given Rs.20,000 each.
